Can we please protest against the layoff of the 76ers beat writer (Athletic)?

I know that not everybody subscribes to The Athletic but I guess a lot of sixers fans do.

Rich hoffmann did a fine job and got fired, because they think sixers are not worthy of a own beat writer anymore.
Even if they won’t get him back, I think we should all send the protest mails to get a beat writer again. (I sent my protest note already)
Why should the sixers be the only team without one?

  1. Wait is that the actual reason hes getting dropped hes literally the only reason i have a subscription

  2. What does this mean for Sixers Beat podcast? I know Bodner still did/does it after leaving The Athletic.

I’ve never subscribed to The Athletic, so I don’t have anyway to give them less money.

  3. I cancelled mine as well. No reason to subscribe without rich. All the pods are free

  4. Media layoffs are routine.

He wasn’t fired, he was laid off. Media orgs across the spectrum are laying people off.

Taking this stuff personally is silly.

  5. It’s a business decision for them. The days of national orgs keeping a lot of beat writers is likely gone forever. There’s too much free stuff out there
