  1. 2 years at Zucker’s current cap hit and just about the same age. It’s like re-signing Zucker at the same cap on a 2 year deal, which is about what the (highly unlikely) dream scenario would have been.

Pretty sweet deal for Smith too: win a Stanley Cup and then get to spend the next two years on Evgeni Malkin’s wing.

And the best part is that the 3rd round pick is just being returned to Vegas after the Blueger trade. That certainly worked out well.

    Hextall’s genius lingering lol

  2. Seriously. I’m not an *advanced stats tell you* ***everything*** type. And I’m fine with taking a flyer on the occasional player with questionable advanced stats, if there’s a reasonable argument for a rebound to be had. But you just can’t have a constant influx of players in red filling out the roster. And that sure as hell seemed to be the case under previous management.

  3. We absolutely won this trade, and in turn, the Blueger trade, since we dealt the pick back to them for Smith

  4. This guy is a very big impact player. He’s aging but I don’t think he will be done just yet.. this guy’s puts in so much work on the PK and scores some incredible goals. He was part of the identity of the knights over the last 6 years, this was a smart move by Dubas.

    Enjoy guys…

  5. Hextall must be so confused looking at this transaction. “but I don’t understand. So you mean I didn’t have to give up a second rounder and receive $6-million of salary cap hit,?”
