  1. It’s weird because you usually trade up in the draft because you’re worried that a team ahead of you is going to pick the guy you want.

    But to move up one spot only, and when the other team (Pens) is willing to do it, usually signals that the guy you want is almost certainly not going to get picked means that the trade then becomes unnecessary in the first place.

  2. The way they pushed the pick to zero on the clock makes me wonder if they had something else cooking and they did a quick trade with the Rangers to buy themselves more time.
