  2. Boy, Mike Clay sure has been consistent in underrating the Lions this off-season.

  3. Vikings higher than us? They’ve pretty much downgraded everywhere and their terrible defense lost more starters without replacing them with better players

  4. Looks fair to me. Not sure how the Lions are 17 but I think the defensive roster still needs a lot of work. So, as usual, the Lions have to prove people wrong for them to believe.

  5. They can hate all they want. I won’t be the least bit bothered until we make some noise in the postseason. We’ve got to show up this time around, boys.

  6. Maybe this was from one of ESPN employee that got fired or something . Lions continue to get disrespected because the writers and media isn’t used to being good. They want them to prove it.

  7. I don’t necessarily agree with the ranking, but the Lions system and coaching is well above average. That pulls a likely slightly above average roster up to an above average team.

There’s also, understandably I think, some reticence to put a roster full of young and not fully proven talent above some with more known commodities.

  8. I feel Detroit always get a little bit of a penalty in these predictions (maybe rightfully so) for all those years of looking they were about to breakthrough and biffing it.

But this year is our year!!!?

  9. You can discount our roster because we don’t have a lot of apparent superstars, but the reality is that this team plays much stronger than the sum of its parts. Past Lions teams had a handful of stars and never accomplished shit.

  10. I didn’t realize Sutton was *that* good last year. I figured he was a healthy upgrade, but damn.

Also, I feel they put the Lions in the middle because they have to go out and prove they live up to the hype this time. I’m down, for once it seems like there are a lot of reasons they can step up to the challenge this time. But I also mainline the kool-aid to beat the heat.

  11. I guess the overall ranking is misleading given how stacked the AFC is considered to be. Still think we should be a few spots up.
