Time to hear the coach finally

  1. Not sure if it’s just lip service or not, but Mike seems to have really had a shift in his attitude and he seems like he’s been really humbled by the past few years. Only time will tell if that’s really true but I guess all we can do now is hope

  2. Jarmo saying “there are non negotiable values our organization has” makes me think they made it clear what behaviors are not acceptable

  3. Portz finally giving a good question here lol

OMG and it hurts but I actually like Babs follow up to his answer.

  4. Our press is so soft. These are all lob up questions

Edit: Downvote me all you want but portzline was adamant for weeks he was going to ask him about his past abuse incidents and completely worded it around hockey tactics. Imagine what this press conference would be like in boston, new york, montreal.

  5. I found his answer about how coaching is different now than 10 years ago with needing to have individual plans, mental health plans, etc with each player to be interesting and encouraging, but his actions will need to follow through on that

  6. It sounds like he had a big “look in the mirror” moment about his entire life a few years ago. Keeps talking about his relationship with his family, his wife, finding joy every day, putting good in the world. Maybe he had his rock bottom.

  7. Still a little worried until he proves it but all the things he said kinda give me hope. If the leadership group of the team is on board and Jarmo and JD keep him in line I think I’m cautiously optimistic.

  8. Press conference went about as well as could’ve been expected. Babcock said all the right things.

I’ve been happy with the hire, this did nothing to change my mind, and in fact made me feel better.

Don’t be fooled by the contract answer though. Babs is on a two year deal because Jarmo has two years left on his. If this flops and we don’t make the playoffs the next two years, the FO will be cleaned out.
