Man giving term on every contract besides Sorokin’s is how you go from having a potentially quick rebuild to sucking for like 8 years like Detroit. Like the good seasons ain’t gonna last forever and now we’re gonna be stuck with old guard guys for a while.
Why does everyone act as if Mayfield at a cheap AAV isn’t a good deal for one of the decent defensemen on the market as well as a good part of our defense for some years now.

Lou just signed our Vezina nominated Goalie (One of the Top goalies in the NHL, for 8 years). He got Mayfield for 7 years, and if you don’t think other NHL teams were interested in him then ask the Oilers what they would do to get their hands on a D-Man of that caliber. Engvall is a steal at 21 million….3 million a year.. He was one of our best players down the stretch and he only has room to grow (He was never gonna get a chance in that Maple Leafs lineup. I will say Varley is a stretch at 4 years, but he is best friends with Sorokin and provides stability at G for years to come. These are A+ signings for Lou.. and by the way they are all tradeable commodities. This is also a great sign that players want to play and stay in Long Island.. It was not that long ago that these guys would have all run, not walked to another team.. Anyone not happy with these signings need to go back in time to the Milbury and Garth Snow years and remember what that time was like..lolololol
Really don’t get why people are annoyed at Engvall, and Mayfields term. The cap will rise and this was done to keep their cap hit down. They are good players and maybe the final two years of the deal they start to regress. But the AAV will be really easy to move off of come that time
