  1. I feel like we have a history of trading for guys that blow up against us. With that being said, I love the move!

  2. I completely agree. Toppin is about to be unlocked. Cannot wait to see it.

  3. I’m hoping he locks into defense and rebounding when he’s happy with the looks Tyrese gets him. With that much athleticism he can be an above average defender

  4. I’m just gonna say… this team is going to be one of, if not the the most ENTERTAINING TEAMS IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE to watch. Also these other opposing teams better come into this season in the best cardio shape of their lives and be ready to run, run, run!

  5. How did we get him so cheap? Honestly didn’t pay attention to him that closely

  6. Knicks fan here, I think Obi is a great add for you guys and just wanted to add my own insight.

I doubt Obi will be posting anything north of 20 ppg (he doesn’t need to) anytime soon just due to his limited handling and creation skills as teams start to put more effort into scouting. That being said, I think he’s going to be a hyper-efficient flyer/spot-up shooter which is honestly what you’re asking for him.

Great in transition and open space, but not stellar in half-court. Dude can get UP in transition, definitely will account for like half of your game highlights. The 3-pt shot waxes and wanes, he has cold streaks where he’ll airball multiple, but then have hot streaks where he is super solid. I think the shot will become more consistent over time and will probably hover around 35-36% (?).

As for the defense, effort is never an issue, he really does try but his high hips do limit him. I wouldn’t say that he was a liability as he’s improved over the years but I doubt he becomes an absolute world-beater defensive. I think he’ll be okay for the most part, and is a decent shot blocker from time-to-time, which hopefully develops.

Rebounding leaves a bit to be desired. I think the lack of mass/size in his frame lets him get outworked on the boards. I think Turner will still have to carry the brunt of the load rebounding-wise which shouldn’t be much of an issue. Screening also leaves a bit more to be desired as his ability to screen is meh at best, but w/ Haliburton I have no doubt he can find him on the roll consistently.

I think Obi will be a solid piece, even though I’m a Knicks fan, I would love to see Walker start long-term just due to his defense prowess, so I think Obi is a nice piece to have until Walker develops. I’d expect an efficient 13-14ppg, 6rpg, and just good vibes overall. Wish he worked out in NY, but wishing him the best in Indy!
