Any of my fellow PDX Giants fans see this?

Thoughts? I’ve heard past attempts haven’t been successful but it would be nice, right?

  1. Can see my house in this image, so that would be tight. It’s the white one in the back

  2. after today ive lost all faith in any good sporting news happening for portland

  3. Would love for Portland to have more than just an NBA team. MLB, NFL, NHL bring it on.

  4. From what I’ve gathered, Portland is the most organized with plans, committee, city involvement etc to try and get an expansion team. Problem is we have a much smaller market than other cities like Nashville and Montreal.

I really don’t think a MLB team will come because we can’t overcome having a smaller market. Not for the lack of trying though.

  5. Would love it. Would hate it if it went to Redtail just cause it’s the closest driving range for me.

  6. I wish but after they basically tossed aside AAA ball (when Portland had a long history of baseball), I don’t think they’re viewed so much as a serious option.

  7. The Portland Pines/Steelheads/Beavers/Orcas/Loggers will be so hot in the ‘30s.

  8. Portland would make a lot of sense with the organized group, lack of other sports teams, and how Seattle could really benefit from being less isolated/having a rival. I think we’ll be seeing Portland and Nashville expansions to get to 32 teams imo.

  9. I used to live in PDX and grew up visiting family there…it’s hard to imagine lloyd center being gone

  10. Portland seems pretty far down on the list of cities to get a team, but if they build their own stadium then might entice the MLB to make a move similar to what they did with Tampa

  11. Yeah that’s the other possibility for the A’s should Vegas somehow still manage to fall apart.

  12. MLB has been on record as saying they want to add two teams once the A’s and Rays stadium situations are resolved. If the A’s move to Vegas, that takes the west coast expansion front runner out, and Portland could be right behind. If not Portland, then where? Salt Lake? Sacramento?

  13. I just realized that on a clear day you might be able to see Mt. Hood from behind home plate nosebleeds. That would be epic.

Edit – nvm. I didn’t see the Willamette River on the left side. Sigh.

  14. Just looking at that (obviously very early) rendering…the shadows at sunset going through those buildings would be absolutely bonkers.

  15. Anyone who’s been to a Timbers game can tell you how wild Portlanders can get. The Blazers have a nice following and fans show up when they’re winning. Living right across the river, I’m obviously biased, but I think Portland would be a great option. Just gonna need a retractable roof lol

  16. Wouldn’t parking be an issue for Portland?
Here in Toronto it’s a pain to drive down to the Rogers Centre. Parking is ok, not the best.
