Last July Kyle Dubas turned down Max Domi’s to sign with the Leafs and 1 year later Brad Treliving is able to sign him.

This was written in the Toronto Star last October by Nick Kypreos and it’s amazing how things changed from July 2022 to July 2023.

“I wonder if GM Kyle Dubas regrets turning down Max Domi’s summertime offer to sign with the Leafs for significantly less money than the $3 million he took from the Chicago Blackhawks. Domi is far from perfect, but he would have definitely provided more attitude on a team that’s lacking it so far.”

  1. Dubas was worried about upsetting the dressing room. Treliving is trying to change the dressing room. They had different goals

  2. Is it safe to assume that if Dubas stayed as the Leafs GM he wouldn’t think about signing Domi once again this year?

  3. It’s a shame Perry wouldn’t sign here too for league min. But money talks. 4 million for him at this stage in his career is tough to give up.

  4. This team has needed a culture adjustment for years now and instead of injecting a change a month before the season ends, Brad is choosing to do it before it starts.

End of year pressers almost every person involved was echoing that they were hearing the same things over and over from every player/coach interviewed.

And now we’ve heard multiple times it’s a quiet room etc etc.

Stevie wonder can see what’s going on here… they’re adding guys with testosterone and a pulse.

Guys on this team who don’t want to engage in the rough stuff when the going gets tough may no longer have a choice because they’re gonna get dragged into it now. There’s guys on this team that are going to start shit and I’m not dumping on bunting but these guys will start it and their gloves aren’t glued on.

Buckle up cause we finally have a mix of skill and truculence.
