I took a video to show the chaos, but can’t posts videos anymore.
Anyway here’s just part of the line at gate 1. This was about an hour before game start time.

Took me close to 30 minutes just to get off the freeway and into the parking lot over an hour before first pitch
Never going on a bobble head night again (or at least a double bobble head). This was absolute chaos. Showed up over an hour and a half early, only to get in 30 minutes before first pitch
I went with a group that wasn’t used to going to games and had to explain to them that this wasn’t normal at all, even for a giveaway night. We also joked that it felt like we were in line to see Jesus. I’m glad we decided to get there 2 hours before just in case.
I think part of what happened is that they were having a big event at Honda center as well. There’s a lot of overlap for workers at the two stadiums and I believe they were short handed so they closed a bunch of the gates. That in combination with bobble heads and a sold out crowd made it a mess. Usually you can just walk in with no issue, even on a bobble head night.
Stadium tip: always park in the center field parking area ( entrance off katela ) and use that right field entrance to get into the ballpark. There is NEVER a line to get in. Gone to 16 games this so far this season – I’ve been on sold out nights, and I’ve been on moderately packed nights and have never waited in line to get into the ballpark.
Game 2 of the mariners series we were a little late and had to park closer to the grove, and saw the gigantic line. Simply walked to our normal spot and got in no problem / no line. Our friends who we were meeting there didn’t get to their seats until the 2nd inning
The best part is it takes 10 minutes to leave after the game.
I got cheap tickets to the lunch bag night and was surprised people had gotten there early to line up for it
I hope someone got an extra one for an international fan like me…
So jealous of anyone who was able to make it to that game!
