Never Too Early To Look Ahead To The 2024 Draft

There is a familiar name in the 2024 draft that just so happens to be ranked around where we could possibly be drafting next year.

According to The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler, Adam Jiricek is listed at #16 on this list here:

Here is Adam’s snippet:

## 16. Adam Jiricek — RHD, HC Plzeň, 6-foot-1

Adam Jiricek, the younger brother of Blue Jackets top prospect David, is a summer birthday who has already worked his way from junior into Czechia’s top pro rung as a 16-year-old. He doesn’t have the size (yet) or I’m-going-to-take-over-this-game presence that his big brother does, but Adam plays the game with confidence and intention that still shows shades of David. He’s got good four-way mobility, an active disposition, balanced shooting mechanics, an eye for spacing and identifying opportunities to jump on both sides of the puck, and legit skill with the puck.

The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler just posted a mock draft for next year, having Adam ranked at #24.

## 24. Adam Jiricek, RHD, Plzen-Czechia

The younger brother of Columbus’ No. 6 pick David Jiricek is a very good prospect in his own right who got games at the top Czech level this season. He’s not as big or physical as his brother, but he’s a better skater. Adam Jiricek is also a very good playmaker from the blue line.

I think if the CBJ are within the 12-16 range, and Adam has not been taken yet, I don’t see how we pass on him unless there is another player that the scouts are in love with.

We still have to see David at the pro level and see what he can produce, but this would be awesome if it happened.
