Only other Yankee pitcher in last 20 years to give up that many hits and runs in any 7-game span was A.J. Burnett in 2011.

Severino just last year was great

Maybe the injuries just finally caught up
It has to be tough to try to improve or just maintain a certain performance when you’re hurt constantly. I haven’t paid close enough attention to know if he’s changed his delivery, but he no longer has that wipeout slider, or even an ok second pitch, to throw now. Even at 95-97 MPH, it’s not hard to get crushed when you fall behind and only have one pitch you can use.
I was expecting the answer to be Lisfranc injury Chien-Ming Wang but that happened before Burnett’s 2011

It’s funny because when Severino was killing it the Yankees put him on the IL against his wishes but now he’s getting slaughtered and they’re letting him embarrass himself.

Baseball’s a sport where a damn blister can ruin your season. I feel like people don’t appreciate the condition you have to be in to excel in this game. Minor injuries that would barely register in other sports will turn you into a liability in this game.
Just really frustrating how commonly injuries destroy great players. And Sevvy was truly great.
Severino looks absolutely lost out there. This entire team looks lost and without leadership.
