They are not named “Blackhawks” in honour of the bird, though. The team’s founder served in the 86th Infantry, nicknamed the “Blackhawk Division” after Sauk Chief Black Hawk, hence the logo and name.

See this logo all the time on the internet as a proposed Chicago logo but I can’t get on board. This is a minor hockey team’s logo in my area. That’s all I see with this logo. It’s nice but that’ll always be the Maplesoft Hawks logo to me.
Chicago’s current logo is so beautiful and any fears of it being racist or offensive are unfounded: for years First Nation groups have been in support of the logo. In my eyes theres no reason to change it.
