  1. Red Wings come to UBS for the first time on October 30th, in case anyone was wondering.

  2. Nobody should be shocked by this. The islanders always used as leverage. But we need a defensive man way more than scoring. Yes scoring would be great but let’s be real here, Alex was never coming here.

  3. So we’re now officially going to next season with the same exact textbook definition of mediocre team. The same exact team that relied on another team to get into the playoffs and then lose in the 1st Round.

We’re becoming the 2020s version of the 2010s Wild (if we aren’t already). Good enough to not be a lottery team but not good enough to make it far in the playoffs, while being right up against the cap with some bad long-term contracts.

    Fun times.

Edit: bring on the downvotes Lou defenders.

  4. Good for them. Not sure he was the answer we needed. He was the answer the mob wanted, because they want something. Next year is the year. Martin, Clutter and Johnston off the books plus a possible 4 mil in cap upgrades = about 9/10 mil. Now thats some buying power.

  5. A guy who’s only useful on the power play is not worth $7.875M AAV.

I’ll get downvoted but this is gonna be seen as a great decision to not acquire DeBrincat.

Give Wahlstrom a genuine chance on PP1 to play with Barzal, Nelson, Horvat and Dobson.

  6. Dude took less term and less money to be a red wing, pretty clear he wanted to play there over everything else. What can you do as Lou Lamoriello?

  7. How is any of this Lou’s fault? Everyone needs to take a step back. Cat made it known he had intentions on playing in Detroit.

This is how it went down.

Lou inquired, was told Detroit or bust.

Insiders had no other news other than “isles are interested” so everyone jumped the gun with crazy theories.

  8. He wanted to go to his home town team and made that clear. No one should be shocked by this.

  9. Weren’t getting him the moment lamoriello spent all the cap space to bring back the first round exit crew. And add guthier who is a bust that skates fast but can’t score to save his life to a two year one way deal. 23rd ranked offense, here we come again for the foreseeable future

  10. We’ve seen this movie before. I trust this team Lou said. Oh really, well, no one else does. Most of this team is on the back 9.

  11. This doesn’t surprise me Detroit gave up next to nothing and lower price while once again Lou does nothin thru yet another off-season, Tarasenko is free agent if Lou doesn’t get Tarasenko he needs to step down as GM at end of season.

  12. I can’t see how people can sit here and defend Lou as GM. This isn’t 2020-2021 anymore and Lou was hired in 2018 to this day the Islanders picked-up 0 Free agent or trades for a top scorer in the league. Look where they are headed now longterm, just another big player goes by that our great GM didn’t even try to get or take seriously. 2018-2023 as GM Smh

  13. Islander players aren’t willing to go to the dirty areas and lacking skill. Sorry man been watching this team from 1975. I’m sick of them being terrible.
