Pacers emerging as serious contender for Siakam per Marc Stein

  1. Not a fan of this at all. Him and OG are free agents next year so why not attempt to sign them then? I don’t want to split our core up

  2. … I am confused, for the record Marc Stein was pretty spot on in regards to Bruce Brown and Indy.

  3. I will be mad as hell if this happens. Nothing against Siakam but I believe in our young players too much to give them up for a guy who’s a free agent next year

  4. this deal doesn’t happen without Hield + Theis as a starting point financially. then my guess is it’ll probably include one of Jalen Smith or IJax and either Nesmith or Nwora. I’m sure toronto wants Nembhard, im not sure we offer that. TJ McConnell also works but not sure that moves the needle for Toronto. It’s a wild trade that would require 3-4 of our players to make the money work.

  5. Can’t give up any of the core youngsters.

We’re all excited for the direction of the team, but we aren’t contenders or close enough. Losing young core pieces for a 1 year rental would be peak stupidity. If you really love the guy, try in FA next year and see where your team is at.

Raps aren’t letting him go for just picks and fringe players, and that’s all we should be offering.

Untouchables should be Hali, Jarace, Mathurin, Nemby. And I’d guess Raps would want Nemby at least, would likely ask for Mathurin. Both should be met with a swift ‘No’ from our FO.

  6. Thog and Siakam is a strong duo to build around. Toronto usually has high asking prices and Pacers aren’t likely to overpay for him so I don’t see it happening.

  7. Mathurin and Jarace are off limits to me unless it’s for other YOUNG players. But I like Siakam, it’s just not worth blowing up our rebuild for.

  8. It’s frustrating looking at Raptors fans valuation of Siakam, they seem to think they can get multiple 1st round picks plus Mathurin or Walker.

  9. Doesn’t make any sense, the asking price for a one year rental would be way too high. Plus, we aren’t one player away and I doubt he would re-sign. Mathurin and Walker shouldn’t even be on the table regardless.

  10. That DroppingDimes account on Twitter that keeps calling trades and then gets deactivated said Siakam to ATL was heating up so I really don’t know at this point

  11. Sign and trade is the only way I’d be interested. Siakam going on record stating we are a team he would like to play with wouldn’t hurt either.

  12. Since I’m new to the NBA, would it be weird if they trade Toppin after only 3 days since acquiring him? Or does it make sense to have Siakam/Toppin/Walker?

I know there’s a lot of quick “flip” right after players are drafted, but it’s not really the same thing. I think he was with the core players at the last summer game, so it would probably be weird if they already flip him?

  13. I’d see it more likely we do a 3 team trade with them and the Hawks to get Hunter. Don’t really see it with Pascal.

  14. Pacers obviously wouldn’t include their main guys. I personally would love to see a veteran PF come elevate this team like David West did for us back in 2011.

  15. I wouldn’t do it , you know Masai is going to try to fleece you. He’s probably going to ask for a young player and 4 first round picks .

  16. It’s possible Toronto just wants a bunch of picks, Buddy and McConnell but I doubt it

  17. Lots of whining about something that hasn’t happened yet. Can we just trust Pritch to do what Pritch does best?
