Let me say that I would absolutely adore having shohei here. There’s a strong Japanese community in Houston and I think he would thrive here.
It is just not smart to sign him to a presumable 12 year $600m contract. I’m sure he’ll pay off most of that deal but I think it’s stupid to tie your organization to somebody for 10+ years.
I think he’ll go to Texas, either New York, San Diego or LA. I also believe the mariners will make a major push for him for obvious reasons. We should stay out of it.
I need this to happen. I don’t care what his contract is. Do it!
Damn dude I would love for Ohtani to end up in Houston. Not only because he’s great, but because of the legacy and profits. I think of Yao Ming, the Rockets, and the huge influence he had in China. No one in China cared for the NBA back then but they sure knew of Yao and were repping Rockets jerseys, the colors might have helped too lol. With the recent World Classic and Japan reporting millions of viewers per game, I would think there could be a market for Ohtani merch, in the states and internationally, regardless of where he ends up in
The price will be too high. I’d love to get him here but I don’t think its plausible.
