  1. It’s probably a good move, although I honestly didn’t think they’d actually do it. I’m sure he’ll be back soon.

  2. Will be good for him to get some ABs in without the pressure to reset himself, I’m sure he’ll be back up soon enough. Maybe Busch and CT3 to fill in at 2B in the meantime.

  3. Overdue imo.

His bat has been pretty awful. Avg exit velo is in the 13 percentile 🫥

A lot of people are still holding out hope for him but I don’t know. He doesn’t strike out and he walks a lot which is good. But he just does not hit the ball hard at all. That is not really a skill you can teach

But the worst thing is that he definitely seems checked out lately. Losing that one game to the Rockies by 1 run because Vargas nonchalantly dropped the cut off throw from the outfield was inexcusable. You can not give that type of effort at the manor league level, doubly true if you’re not hitting at all. Hopefully when he comes back he is more focused and does not take his spot on this team for granted

  4. His highlights lately have all been walks or HBP, hope he gets more ABs and gets back on track.

  5. Hopefully he takes this as a reality check and works out the kinks in his mechanics. His discipline is there, just needs to be confident in his swings and timing

  6. It’s the right move. Now bring Busch up for an extended run once Dodgers season starts again.

  7. Much needed. Needs to go down there, take a deep breath, relax, and get back to raking. He’s still very young, this is by no means a career changer.

  8. I had high hopes since his debut in SF. What surprised me was his fielding being pretty solid at 2B. Hope he puts it all together.

  9. It must hurt to be in the majors playing alongside talent like Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman to then be sent back down due to your own performance. I love Vargas and he has good stuff. He needs this to get out of this bad rhythm. When he’s back he’ll definitely be better. All the best to Vargas.

  10. Dude needs to hit the gym. He clearly has a good eye and can walk and fouls balls off like a machine. But then he will noodle arm a pop fly to shallow outfield

  11. I would rather have seen him platoon at 23 years old. Plugging him into a full-time 2nd base on this talented team was asking too much IMO.

It wasn’t just the hitting. It was the way he was hitting. Zero productive outs. Soft outfield pop ups. Weak grounders. Time to go down man. Got hard to watch.

He’ll be back. Needs more time.

  12. I like him, but the hype around him was completely unjustified, as statistically he was like the 8th or 9th best hitter on the AAA team last year (behind guys like Eddy Alvarez and Kevin Pillar). Hopefully he finds it though.

  13. I hope he figures out whatever is messing with him. He was actually pretty good at the start of the year before the injury. And the last couple months he has just been all messed up in the head, having everything go against him.

Maybe this means more Mookie at 2B?
