What did morey think would happen?
We really can’t have anything nice… and Harden wasn’t even *that* nice
Harden has to play regardless. He signed himself into a contract year, and he is in his mid-30s. Refusing to play or not playing well will only hurt himself.
What is Harden so pissed about? He had the opportunity to be a free agent and get the best deal for him. That didn’t happen so now he wants to get traded because the Sixers didn’t pay up for a value he made up in his head.
I think Harden is a great basketball player and I would welcome him back next season but dude, the open market didn’t value your skill set. I don’t know what else to tell him.

JFC; just give us Norm Powell, RoCo and a couple seconds or a swap in the late 2020s and call it a day. We’d be so much better in a motion offense with a couple usable wings (Tobi, RoCo). Powell and Maxey can score the skin off the ball. Plenty of firepower around Embiid. I’m so tired of this loser.
Realistically can we get Lavine back in a 3-team deal? Otherwise I don’t see how we move Harden unless LAC gives us PG.
It’s all posturing, it always is. Even “rival executives” get fed gossip and narratives, so they can regurgitate it back to guys like Amick as credible intel. No rush to deal Harden until into the fall. Situations change, injuries happen, teams get delusional off of hot starts. It’ll get done, but no sense staring at the pot waiting for it to boil right now.

sixers might be one of the worst/unluckiest teams in the last 5 years. the amount of picks and talent that they have fumbled is absolutely insane. some of it is bad luck (simmons/fultz) and some is just awful decisions (horford, tobias, butler).

From a purely Basketball perspective. Does James have a better chance at reaching the finals with the Clippers than the Sixers?
Personally I think he has a better chance with us because I just don’t see Kawhii and PG staying healthy enough.
As a Nets fan if there is one thing I learnt from the James Harden experience it’s is that the methods he used to force his way to your team will be the same methods he will use to force his way out.

Can you guys relax? These were the exact headlines before we traded Ben. He is worth more if we trade him mid-season before the deadline. Morey has earned my faith.
Isn’t this the usual Morey negotiating tactic? It’s not like the FO is going to be whispering to reporters that we’re trying to move him fast.
This is just so weird to me. I genuinely don’t understand Harden’s desire here. Clearly the Clippers don’t want to give him the deal he’s after, otherwise he would’ve opted out and signed with them.
He’s an aging star who had two amazing playoff games this year, but also killed his value with disastrous games 6 and 7 that are fresher in people’s minds and add to the “choker” narrative. He’s not getting a massive multi year deal anywhere. But here in Philly he loves his teammates and finally got rid of the worst coach in the league AND he has the opportunity to prove himself for a multi year mega deal on a $35 million deal.
What is he so mad about? What is he so dissatisfied with? What is so bad about playing here on what’s essentially a one year 35 mil prove-it deal; especially when NO ONE ELSE IN THE LEAGUE wants to pay him better.
Our window isn’t just closed, it’s broke.
If the Sixers can’t get something that makes them better for Harden or a package of assets that will help make them better in future, then holding on to Harden is the smart play. At least until Dame gets traded to see if it jogs loose the trade market. And if not, he’s an expiring contract next season. That in itself has value.
I look at it like this, if a player doesn’t want to be there, I don’t want them there. Their desire to not be there reflects in their game play.

At the end of the day, Clips probably end up offering picks plus Mann plus salary filler. Wonder what Morey’s target would be with those assets. Lavine? Another run at Dame? Or surprise role players who fit around Maxey and Embiid.
The Clippers did not sign him when he was a free agent. Why would they trade to get him now?
What am I missing? Is it now only a one year deal? Is that what may entice the Clippers? Does this mean that, as a free agent, Harden never volunteered to take a one year deal?
