  1. If the Sox trade him, Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams will screw it up and get back guys that never make it to the majors.

  2. The Dodgers are a smart organization and will give us the one they know is most likely to bust.

  3. Please just one of the 2 catching prospects, we haven’t taken many chances on truly top rated ones and hit. This could be a good one although I will be sad to see Gio go

  4. There’s some teams out there with legit WS contention possible where Gio might be the number one starting pitcher. Like the O’s for example. Their bullpen is strong but their starters are mediocre, Gio could make a huge difference for them. Sox should demand a haul even if it is a rental

  5. A lot of people saying Hahn will fail with whatever trade he makes, and i get the frustration with him. He’s been terrible at closing this rebuild.

But let’s not forget his original big rebuild trades.

    – Adam Eaton for giolito, ReyLo, and Dane Dunning.

    – Quintana for Eloy and Cease.

    – Even Sale for Moncada / Kopech was the right move to make, Yoan just isn’t the guy he should have been.

Hahn typically does just fine with the “rebuilding” trades. It’s the trades to push for contention / free agent acquisitions that are his major flaw.

Let’s see what he can do here. If we can get one of those Catcher prospects from LA I’d be alright with it

  6. Yep, that’s it for us for a while. Without Giolito, Cease is our only reliable starting pitcher. And Giolito wasn’t very reliable in years past, anyway. It’s not like we’re gonna get any starting pitching any time soon. Not sure what a team does about that problem. There are not enough really good pitchers.

  7. My pipe dream is that they trade Gio for a good haul and then find a way to bring him back in free agency. Call me crazy but the dude keeps going out of his way to say how loyal he is to the Sox because they saw things in him when the nationals were so willing to quit on him. Pessimism aside the Sox EVENTUALLY have to break this trend of not offering term to a starter and Gio is our guy. Find a way to bring him home after the season.

  8. The Sox need to get back major league ready players that they can insert into the lineup right now. No A ball guys that throw 102 mph or some similar bullshit.

  9. The Dodgers draft close to 30th every single year, and yet they have nine of the top 100 prospects in the minors.

  10. We need to make a serious score. If we trade him, I’m talking draft picks and top prospects…

  11. The Rangers, O’s, D’backs, Reds and Rays all look to me like teams that would match up well with a Gio trade, along with Dodgers. Rangers and Reds in particular seem to have an overabundance of infielders. Foscue would be obvious fit for sox, for example
