Yankees’ trade plans: No on Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto and Nolan Arenado … but maybe on this ‘rental’

I don’t trust nj.com, Kuty ain’t even there anymore
Ohtani probably won’t get traded and there are teams with more talent to offer than the Yankees so there are people who are going to say “Definitely not the Yankees” to look smart. It’s based on no insider knowledge though and is meaningless. The Yankees would certainly make an offer for Ohtani is he’s available.
No more rentals
Ohtani trade just makes no sense for any team
You can’t trade 4-5 great prospects for a 3 month rental
Of all the whiffs from the trade deadline last year, I hold Soto and Luis Castillo against Cashman the most. Soto in our offense was a no brainer, and Castillo in our rotation would have made it arguably the best in the AL at the time.
If you aren’t trading for a Soto/Ohtani caliber player, there is no point to trading at all. Even a player of their caliber probably doesn’t make this team a contender without a lot of luck, so someone like Cody Bellinger definitely isn’t moving the needle. No point in giving up any assets when it isn’t going to make a difference anyways
Ho hum, same shit every year in July.
Nah we need a 2021 braves deadline where multiple pieces nobody expects to perform come out but it wont
This is a last place team…there should be no consideration of being buyers
All I know is that if they don’t fucking spend significant cash with this stupid patch deal, we should all riot.
Just wait for Monday when Michael Kay starts to condition the fanbase for no trade. Because he’s a mouthpiece for Cashman, so he’s gotta do Cashman’s dirty work.
Truth is this team has like $200 million tied up in contracts for the next two years. Very little we can do.
Their source sounds like a random guy from r/baseball
Not even sure rentals are worth it. Just call up some of the young guys for the time being.
Donaldson is hitting .182 in 662 PA with the Yankees. It is a joke to keep rolling him out there.
They need at a minimum a Lf and 3rd basemen that can bop. Without both they are wasting their time.
