[Art Stapleton] Opinions around NFL from afar have been varied, of course. Got this unsolicited text today from a league source not involved with #NYGiants and Saquon Barkley negotiations as we head to Monday’s 4 p.m. deadline: “He’s taking whatever is on the table at 3:59:59.” We’ll see.

Seems like it would be kinda stupid of him not to unless it’s for less than the franchise tag this year. People seem to think he shouldn’t take less guaranteed than the amount of this years and next years franchise tags ($10M + $12M) but it would be beyond stupid for the giants to offer him more guaranteed than that, considering they have the leverage to decide to tag him again next year or not, why would they ever offer him more than that amount guaranteed it’s completely idiotic.
Saquon is due $10M this year, he can sign a deal and be guaranteed maybe $18M hypothetically upon signing, or play on the tag and possibly get his $10M this year and another $12M guaranteed if they tag him again. That’s a gamble he needs to decide if he’s willing to take.
Not surprised by this in the very least
All the moves that Schoen has made this offseason look pretty obvious in retrospect. But I think we need to give major props for how he’s navigated what WAS a really complex offseason.
Evaluating what he’s done purely off his methodology, which is how we should evaluate these decisions, I think he’s done EXCELLENT all around
This has always been exactly what was going to happen.
Wake up babe there’s more tweets about saquon’s contract
