Such a terrible, terrible idea. It’s like the writer hasn’t paid attention to the Cardinals this year AT ALL.

Trading Hence would end up as one star we traded away and regretting. We still have a glut of outfielders and need pitching

Carlson, a guy who’s a few years away and a prospect who’s blocked by Contreras the next 5 years for Soto? I’d do that all day, not sure why the Padres would
Would LOVE this trade – if it meant we resigned Soto. That lineup would be hell facing Donovan – Goldy – Soto – Arenado – Contreras – Walker – Nootbaar. That’s 7 quality ABs before factoring in your rotating pieces

The offense is finally more consistent. I actually don’t think we need Soto anymore. I also think that’s more evidence that O’Neill is the odd man out (Carlson has been able to stay a lot healthier and offers more versatility and has more years of control left)
