[NBA_University] “Raptors were 6th in pull-ups per game and 29th in EFG% on pull-ups.” With Nurse gone/a new offensive strategy there’s no way they’re this bad next year…right?

  1. There’s way too many variables still in play for anyone to say one way or another. We might be good, we might be bad, we might be 500 again. You could make a list 20 deep of the various question marks around the team right now. Whatever it is though, it’s gonna look different than last year.

  2. There was so little movement on offence that we needed pull-up jumpers to get off shots.

Sure, we don’t have a full team of elite pull up shooters, so our % is never going to top the league, but when we don’t have to rely on those shots nearly as much we’ll be taking much better shots to improve that %.

I could see those ranks going from 6th and 29th to 24th and 14th respectively.

  3. It’ll still be bad, but I imagine the goal is to make up for that with improvements elsewhere on the court

  4. i just… we don’t have the fucking talent to be 6th in pull ups. why we ran a scheme that had us taking that many is beyond me. ball movement is the absolute key to a roster like this that doesn’t have a guy or two that can go out there and give you 20-25 a night. i really hope darko can get that kind of offense going

  5. Well Fred was out best eFG% pullup shooter by a decent margin, so it’s hard to see us improving in pullup efficiency. I don’t think the system will dramatically change the efficiency of those types of shots.

Thing is, I would rather just see our volume on these shots drop dramatically. Pullups are not great shots unless you’re an elite shooter. Just taking Fred’s high volume out will help, but I also want to see fewer pullups from most of the rest of the guys too.
