Mike Florio ranked his top 10 head coaches. No Nick. Where would you rank him? He’s in my top 5

  1. These guys all have longevity. Tough to put Nick on that list yet but he’s certainly on his way.

  2. 8 of these guys won a Super Bowl, so hard to argue there. The rest of have had multiple playoff runs. No objection yet, but in time I expect Nick to make his appearance.

  3. Don’t let recency bias cloud your judgement. 6 or 7 of these guys are gonna be in the HOF. The rest have established long track records. Now if we had won the Super Bowl I would have taken Vrabel out and put in Sirianni.

  4. If you want to look at it optimistically as an Eagles fan, 2 of the top 10 are former Eagles head coaches. Both took the Eagles to the Super Bowl and one of them brought the championship home to Philadelphia.

  5. Well this is a good list, there are a lot of great HCs in the league right now. I think Nick is top 3 in the NFC though. I don’t think that Shanahan and Carroll are so much better than him that they can keep Nick from going back to the SB via coaching alone.

  6. Andy Reid over Belichick, 15 year old me is screaming with joyous vindication.

  7. I think very highly of Nick as a HC so far. That said, I think putting him in the 11-15 spot is fair. I’d probably put him at like 11, 12, or 13

  8. 8-10 + nick could be interchangeable, dont really have a problem with him being maybe 11th here

  9. You don’t get to be ranked in the top 5 if you lost a Super Bowl because you were too stupid to hand arguably the best RB in the league at the time the ball for 4 straight downs at the goal line.

  10. This is a solid list. These guys are all more established and have longer track records of success than Nick. The one guy I take exception with is Vrabel. He turned around the Titans, but so what? There’s a lot of guys I’d put ahead of him, including every coach in the NFC East (except Dabol).

  11. Im fine with this list, but theres only like 2-3 id trade Siriani for so idk

  12. Lol John harbaugh is so fucking overrated it isn’t even funny… Like how do u not win the ship in 2019 with that team? Also Tomlin and vrabel really don’t impress me much… Sorry… Tomlin had plenty of opportunities to make deep playoff runs and didn’t. Let’s keep it real.

  13. If we make deep playoff runs the next two years he will be top 5. A lot of these guys have a much longer resume.

  14. I thought Bill was the greatest coach of all time ??? Why is Tomlin ahead of him ?? So confused 😐

  15. I’d put Doug at 9 and Nick above Vrabel. Vrabel is an overrated meathead. And as much of a Shanahan hater that I am, I think he still has the edge on Nick (for now!)

  16. Tbh he could be on this list but no higher than 8, if anything Dougie P should be ahead of Vrabel and Sirianni could squeak in at 10

  17. I love how Sean Payton is on here and he’s not even a proven coach with a brand new team…

  18. National Media about the team….

Every Player: Look at the players around him.

Every Coach: Look at the roster he has to work with.

It’s like the only person they’re willing to give any credit is Howie.

  19. If they made a gm edition of this article. By the logics of this exercise, longevity, success and perhaps coaching tree *(gm tree)? Who would be above Howie?

  20. Probably at 9 and 10, ahead of Shanahan and Vrabel. I think Doug and McVay should be higher. Tomlin may be a bit too high. I don’t think Belichick’s been a top 5 coach since losing Brady. And I think it’s too soon to rank Sean Payton at all, considering he didn’t even coach last year.

  21. If I’m guessing he’s probably in the 11-13 range for this guy. And that’s fine.

Yes, he took the team to the SB in his second year. He’s proving to be way more than the underwhelming hire everyone saw him as. And that legacy of being an underwhelming hire still weighs for some.

And while he took the team to the big game in year 2 he also had both coordinators hired as HC the next year.

All that to say….I don’t have a problem with this. He is likely 1/3 to 1/2 in most rankings out there. I think like the argument on why most don’t have Jalen in top 5 QB rankings is there is still a lot to prove.

And I like this. Both coach and QB have shown to be fueled by what’s said out there. I want them fueled to come out and prove this wasn’t a fluke season.

And I’m hoping Desai and Johnson have that same fire to prove the doubters wrong.
