[Talkin’ Yanks] Boone says they knew about Trevino’s injury but he was gonna keep playing until he couldn’t tolerate it

  1. This decision makes sense maybe if he was playing well, but he wasn’t, so why keep him out there? This organization is a mess top to bottom.

  2. The team that constantly sits players for extra days of rest, yet has a massive IL regardless of the rest, was cool with their starting catcher playing through an injury for an entire season if they let him.

  3. The Yankees have 2 other characters on the roster and their second best prospect is a catcher so they’re not hurting for catching so why keep using an injured player to risk injuring them more?

  4. And the exact same will be done with judge and when he isnt at the level we expect from him, fans will get annoyed and say he should have been shut down

  5. That’s just wrong.

You had 2 capable catchers. It’s not like Trevino was Jorge at the plate

  6. Same shit every year. Someone should start compiling these.

[yankee manager / FO] knew about [player]s injury the whole time, but decided to push them until it was intolerable. Now that player is out for the entire year.

What is going on in NY? Good lord.

  7. So dumb to play Trevino hurt (which made him a black hole in the lineup) when a 24 year old Wells was rotting in AA – could have had Rortvedt up early and gotten Wells reps at the next level weeks/months earlier. I know this organization is notoriously shitty at developing players under Cashman but this is absurd.

  8. This is an employer saying we will work our employees till the drop from exhaustion how the hell is this not malpractice.

  9. Took them long enough to address this injury. I couldn’t tolerate watching Trevino bat with a .570 OPS

  10. So then Boone lied about Trevino previously when he said he was fine? Not liked I believed anything he said previously.

  11. For those just looking at the headline, Trevino has a tear, and doctors said it would need surgery but because it was already torn, he wouldn’t make it any worse by playing until it’s repaired. Therefore, the idea of him “playing through the pain” is completely sound as long as he was okay with it. The only reason to take him out would be due to performance, and due to everyone else slumping offensive already, I’m fine keeping in Trevino as long as his defense is still top 5

  12. To allow this to happen is criminal negligence. To admit to it on camera like it’s not a big deal is psychopathic.
