Steve Smith Sr’s “Cut to It” Interview With Jayden Reed

Fo sho.
Watched the first twenty minutes. This dude has such a good head on his shoulders and is real humble. I’m pulling for him
Interesting portion at 19:30ish where he says his agent told him he was going pick 55 to the Lions.
His answer about what stuff he needs to have with him every day to succeed: purpose.
I am liking what I’m hearing. Guy sounds grounded and focused.
EDIT: and he has two bachelor degrees. This guy is not your stereotypical football player.
I found it interesting that his former head coach at Western Michigan is actually on the Packers coaching staff now (Tim Lester). That’s the sort of thing that makes his selection a bit more obvious in hindsight, similar to Lew Nichols and Aaron Jones both having the same college RB coach.
I also found it interesting that the Packers basically had a couple zoom calls with him pre-draft, and that was it. Really kept their interest in him a secret, even from Reed and his agent.
