My UD story. I was blessed to get to go to a warm-up before a Charlotte Hornets game several years ago. At first, it was mainly the Hornets on the court, and then some players came out. Jrich, Justice, Funny enough, I remember ragging on Zeller while we were warming up. ( was a Hornet then ). I wore my UD jersey that I bought in 05, I think? It was an Adidas jersey. Shortly after UD comes out with his, Starbucks starts stretching and taking his usual mid range jumpers.
I stared in awe as they all practiced and saw them in a more human light, not so dead focused on a in game play.
Shortly after, the Team Rep comes over and says we need to exit. I was in the last seat, so I was the last to get out. All I hear from behind is “Nice Jersey Bro,” and I turn around, and it’s UD. Star-struck, i just shook his hand and ran to tell my boy what happened. Completely forgetting that I had a sharpie in case that moment would happen. So I missed out on the opportunity.
The next week, I bought my first auto of the Captain.
