[Grant] Sebastian Walcott, Rangers’ top int’l signee this winter & No. 98 prospect in minors according to MLP Pipeline, was pulled from his game in the Arizona Complex League this afternoon. Rangers probably consider him their No. 2 or 3 position player prospect. It is not injury related

  1. Would be short sighted to trade him unless it’s for a controllable player we’ll have for 3+ seasons. We’re not close enough to where we should be trading our best prospects for rentals

  2. He’s also 17 and has been striking out a lot lately, so it may not be trade related at all

  3. NO. The only deal i’d maybe trade him in is a Snell/Hader package.

    Besides Ohtani, that’s it.

  4. I’m gonna be sick if this is for Verlander…. Some scouts legit think he’s already our best prospect….

  5. Would be disappointed to say the least. Just hope it’s for controllable assets.

  6. Walcott could be a top 10 prospect in baseball by like next year. Scouts have been drooling over the kid since he first signed. This would have to be for something huge. Especially if Brock Porter is included.

  7. Let’s dream for a second. Suppose these two are packaged together in one trade. Maybe a third and / or 4th player

    Snell&hader&soto
    Verlander&pham
    Cease&Robert Jr

  8. If this is for a Verlander or Scherzer then almost certainly the Mets are going to pay down a massive portion of their remaining $$$.

  9. I’m nervous about this. Walcott for Scherzer? Just seems like unless they’re paying his salary this year and at least half of next year, it’s an overpay.

  10. I’m not saying there’s not reason to be excited for the kid, but we need to remember that prospects don’t always pan out. Wasn’t that long ago that Jurickson Profar was the #1 overall MLB prospect. And Gallo and Mazara were going to set the world on fire. And didn’t we have a trio of pitching prospects in the late 2000s that were supposed to be the anchor for our rotation for the next decade?

Anyways, the kid is 17. If we can trade him for a piece that helps us win then we should do it.
