Kelce fighting with defense at training camp – is this normal?

I’m paying a little more attention to the Chiefs and training camp this year. I’ve seen on Twitter two instances (there may be more) of Kelce fighting with the defense after making a play. Is this normal behavior between the offense and defense and is it good for the team? Does Kelce have a history of doing this in prior years?

Some say it’s just chirping.

  1. It’s a billion degrees and they’re some of the most competitive people on earth playing an extremely physical game, this shit happens all the time.

  2. Wow, Kelce striking a teammate in the back of the head is a real douche move. I’m kinda taken aback

Edit: “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.” People who don’t like my comment really need to do some soul searching

  3. Looks like Kelce is literally punching him in the back of the head. I hope that’s not normal behavior from the offense and defense

  4. We had Lamar Jackson (Yes there is a CB named this) layout Kekoa Crawford, Bootle going after kelce after the whistle yesterday. Today the offense chirping back to Bootle and then Kelce who after the play today has Cochrane trying to rip the ball out. The offense and Defense are just trying to make plays, sometimes after the play is over.

Its fucking hot, humid and just overall miserable, and Kelce probably just doesnt want to be wasting energy for something so pointless after the play. Training camp always has a bit of chirpiness to it, and Kelce also isnt scared to push back we see it in games at least once a year.

  5. This happens all the time. PMII got into it with bootle. 99% of the time it’s “lay off defense this is camp ain’t nobody trying to get hurt”

“Yo I’m fighting for a spot bro”

  6. Fuckin love how Duff is the first one over to break it up. Young leader in the making!

  7. Anyone who says this isn’t normal behavior has never played football and practiced in hot summer heat.

  8. Testosterone is flowing my guy. That being said, the video I saw, Bootle had a little extra curricular when he wasn’t even the one who made the initial stop.

  9. Was there today and have that on tape as well, lol, and then it stormed like crazy.

  10. This shit gets me going, love this team! All families have a bit of conflict. Iron sharpens iron
    *edit* shit not shot

  11. Try playing in record breaking heat while playing a full contact sport for hours and see if you dont lose it a little.

  12. Corners and Safeties are holding almost every play. How are they going to get better if they keep holding in practice? Kelce is holding them to account. Same thing every year.

  13. This is pretty normal. The punch a bit excessive and a bit more than normal but not unheard of. I kind of get why Kelce was pissed the guy came over well after the play was over and tries punching the football out. It’s hot summer football, tempers can flair.

  14. Seems both instances were late and excessive from the defense…especially bootle.

  15. yes its normal for the offense and defense to fight during training camp, it happens every year for every team

  16. I’m sorry but these guys look so fucking hilarious talking trash and fighting with those big Ronald McDonald wigs on

  17. I’d be more concerned if they were nonchalant about practice. The fact that they’re playing with this level of competitiveness is good in my opinion.

  18. I remember seeing Mahomes arguing last year with Fenton. Less physical, though.

    It’s normal enough.

  19. It’s like the second day of pads – this is when shit gets REAL. The two guys who got into with Kelce are practice squad guys fighting for their life out there. It’s just football guy stuff.

  20. If you have ever played ball you know this is how August is. We are all pissed, it’s hot, there are no games, we are not in football shape yet, some of us are already hurting a little bit… and yeah, tempers flare.

But then these guys go to war together… so in Reid we trust to know when it is too much.

  21. It’s hot as shit and he probably just got mad about that after the play stripping action.

Pretty sure there’s nothing to see here. Both guys walked away immediately.
