  2. Does anyone know anything about the potential compensatory picks we lose out on by trading all these guys away? Obviously the prospect hauls outweigh any picks like that but would we have gotten anything if we just held onto these guys until the offseason?

  4. So are we trying to open up some payroll for a big free agent this off season or what? If not, trading away our FA’s should put us at what, 20-something in payroll next year? Does that mean we’re going all in on Ohtani? It’s cool to lock down some young talent for a while, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the team with 2nd highest viewership AND attendance spend a few bucks, ya know?

  7. I sorta love people saying we got fleeced

    It’s close to impossible to get fleeced for half a season of average players

  10. Landing 3 top 15 prospects from other’s farm systems for rentals seems like a dub on paper. The pitchers have decent K/9 and Saggy looks awesome at every level. Wild we got the #7 prospect from the Jays for a bullpen rental. Hopefully one of them truly hits!

  14. Apparently Saggese doesn’t wear batting gloves. I wonder if he makes salsa?

  15. Matz is on a heater. Since coming back to rotation he has 17 IP and 1 ER in 3 starts. Lowered his season ERA back to 4.34 which is respectable. What we paid him for – pls continue

  19. Does this mean the dormers can stop bitching? We know MO ain’t done yet.

  20. I wouldn’t mind trading Contreras if he waives. Knizner does a decent job catching and Herrera is developing. Also, that 2025 payroll would be wide open for anything

  21. According to FanGraphs, Roby slots in as our #3 prospect, Robberse slots in at #8, and Saggese slots in at #10, and Kloffenstein slots in at #16. Not a bad haul for a few rentals.

  22. I feel like Stratton isn’t getting enough credit for being a beast. He’s got a FIP of 3.06. Including him in the Rangers deal while not getting much more than the Hicks deal means Toronto overpaid, or the Rangers got a really good deal.

  23. Based on the ability the Cardinals have shown in recent years to develop quality hitters. Saggese is an addition to be excited about; a legit hitting prospect.

  24. Just finished Oppenheimer and damn, Downey, Cillian, and Nolan, all are deserving of Oscar noms.

    Only thing potentially staying in their way will be Scorsese’s killer of the Flower moon.

  27. Said good riddance to a fair weather fan today. He’s been a fan of the cardinals his whole life and they have one bad season and he said he threw away all his jerseys and flags and will only root for a winning team.

  28. Preface: I have absolutely no knowledge regarding the prospects the Cardinals got in their trades of Hicks and Montgomery. I am doing nothing more than reporting what I am reading from those that do such things for a living:

    The Cardinals did anywhere from a B-C+ job in the Montgomery deal, and a B on the Hicks deal. In short, a little underwhelming, but not catastrophic.
