[Maschino]In Jorge Lopez’s scoreless debut with the Marlins, he ditched Pete Maki’s pitch selection philosophy and when back to his Sinker/Knuckle-Curve combination that gave him success in Baltimore.

  1. > The Marlins may be on their way to fleecing the Twins because of their pitching coach.

Excellent. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear.

  2. Yeah ill be impressed when he does it 5 times in a row. We all saw how much better matt shoemaker became after he stopped listening to the pitching coaches.

  3. Yeah…we’ll see. I hope he does pitch well for his sake but if I was a Marlins fan I wouldn’t count on it.

  4. It’s been two appearances., he had 20 scoreless appearances with us this season.

  5. Idk is the implication that Pete Maki is some kind of dummy who was holding back Lopez’s success?

I think his track record with the rest of the bullpen makes that pretty hard to believe.

  6. Some Twins fans’ favorite player is whoever just left the team

Not a lot of tweets going on about CES’ .575 OPS in the majors this year.

  7. He could have 6 straight scoreless appearances with them and then have a blowup and his numbers with them would look horrible. Let’s not make judgements after one appearance lmao

  8. The quote further states …. “The Marlins may be on their way to fleecing the Twins because of their pitching coach.”

Which was oddly left out. But what a bunch of bologna. This is a one time appearance v. the tigers.

  9. Pitch sequencing and the strategies that pertain to it go a lot deeper than Pete Maki.

  10. His success is Baltimore lasted half a season. He was a failed starter and caught fire as a closer for half a season before the Twins thought they picked up some high end closer/late inning guy.

  11. His last outing with the twins was scoreless too. It means NOTHING. They couldn’t trust him, that’s the point.
