  1. Why am I filled with the dread that they’re not going to do a damn thing at this deadline?

  2. I’m not moved enough by any of those remaining guys to give up any prospects for them.

  3. Adding a couple set-up caliber bullpen arms and a right-handed outfield bat, shouldn’t cost a whole lost and should fix a good number of this team’s issues. Ability to hit off lefties and bullpen depth have certainly been two of their biggest issues these past 5 losses.

To me, you try to fix the margins of this roster, sneak into the playoff thanks to the shit division, and try to get hot in playoffs which while far from likely, the Twins offense is certainly streaky and the pitching has certainly had dominant stretches too.

If you fail at any of that, then you didn’t give up that much you’d be worried about losing and the roster would still be in fine shape heading into 2024.

  4. I really wish they could have gotten Robertson. None of those relievers do much for me.

  5. The Mets are interested in Larnach and Tommy Pham, despite being a total weirdo, would be a perfect fit for us.

What exactly would that package look like? I’m assuming they’d have to throw in some prospect(s) to even that trade out?

  6. Hopefully Dyson is available again. I would say look to the person who has the worst injury history or with an active injury. That’s who we will get

  7. Been thinking about this and will try to formulate my thoughts in a not too long winded post-

We are clearly not very close to being a true contender. I’m not saying it’s not worth adding some pieces, that’s definitely still the play, but it’s not worth going all in either, and realistically I think the goal for the season should be to just end the damn playoff streak

In the offseason we’ll have a better opportunity to reshape, but as it stands now we just don’t have the difference makers to make a real run. The guys are either underperforming (Correa, Buck), not good enough to carry an offense (Kepler, Jeffers), too much of a role player to count on in the playoffs (Castro, Solano, MAT – these guys are important in the regular season, but in the playoffs they’re less critical), or guys that are struggling to establish themselves in the majors (AK, Larnach, Miranda)

We simply need more guys that can play at a high level every day. Too many R/L matchups, people that need off days, or people that need time to figure it out. It’s frustrating as that’s kind of the middle stages of the rebuild and we’re seeing if it’s going to work or not. But we need to find a way to consolidate over half of the lineup of Kep, Solano, AK, Castro, Gallo, into guys that you can set and forget. That was supposed to be the Correa and Buck types, and Julien, AK, Wallner have the ability to be such different makers in the future, and we’re on the right path but still just too far away

So sure, I hope we still take this season seriously and target some guys that can help without ruining the farm. But this roster is still too far away to get to where it needs to be by a few trades. I think we’re on the right path, but the reality is we still have a ways to go and we need another offseason to be able to address it more fully

  8. If Oakland is fine with returning Trevor May back to us for cheap, I would be happy. He’s done pretty well since the All Star Break

  9. We probably letting Polo go after this season? I guess he’s not coming back from this cycle of injuries.

  10. This team could benefit from some addition by subtraction. Ship Kepler and Gallo to unclog the outfield

  11. So we have already traded for damaged goods in the form of Floro, next up on Falvey’s checklist is pawn off hot prospects for an aging hasbeen that is way past their expiration date.

    Who we thinking???

  12. hold firm this is a go nowhere season, new front office and coaching staff next year. let them move some vets and rebuild.

  13. A good line from the Athletic this morning describing the Twins and their division: “being the least dilapidated house in the neighborhood has its benefits.”

  14. We all saw how well the Lopez/Cano Trade worked out and how well the Mahle Trade worked so I have no hope this deadline

  15. I think they stand pat and will use the players returning off injuries as an excuse not to bolster the lineup, pen, etc. If anything sell and try to restock the farm system. Probably will only take 85 wins to win the division anyways and this teams ceiling is yet another first round out. You can probably still do that by subtracting just as you well as you would by adding.

  16. I’m so confused. What are the Guardians doing?

I get Manzardo is a top prospect for the Rays but he’s underperforming. Guardians have a good 1B already. Guardians buying and selling and just hoping they luck into the division title?

  17. The Guardians just sold their best healthy starter and they’re still probably gonna win the division

  18. Candelario is out of the Nationals lineup tonight. Twins are interested…

Feels an odd fit but 🤷‍♂️

  19. I was called a fool about trying to deal Sonny. Who’s the fool now?!
