Velazquez was blocked in Chicago with much better prospects coming behind him. Jed getting a cost controlled live arm is a big win.
Hopefully he’s much better than his 2023 numbers would suggest.
A win win. It’s a good move for Nelson to get a real shot and we get a shot at a guy with good peripherals.
Nelson needs regular playing time that he can’t get here, so I’m very fine with moving him for a cost controlled reliever.
At the same time, the numbers don’t really stick out. He has the K rate of an effective reliever, so they must see something.
Should have kept Nelson dudes got potential
I don’t hate the trade but Cuas isn’t left handed.
Needed to open up a spot for PCA and this RP still seems a little raw. Weird for his age, but the pandemic seems to have really messed up his development. Maybe they see a tweak to make and he becomes effective with control.
Another good trade. Cuas is not the best by any means, but we weren’t using Velazquez and we really weren’t going to. He’ll probably be cheap, and who knows, if he improves a little bit, he’ll be a great bullpen arm.
Interesting and good get. Can never have enough pitching options.
