[Heyman] Pirates are weighing multiple offers on Rich Hill and Austin Hedges. Also getting inquiries on Bednar, Keller, Holderman and Choi. Bednar and Keller of course have big price tags.

Not a ton of new info, but interesting to hear we have multiples options as to where we send Hill/Hedges

  1. Trade the first two names for peanuts and call it a day. Keep everyone else, please and thank you.

  2. I’d hate to see Holderman or Bednar go but I also think relievers are pretty replaceable. Would need to be a good haul. Hill, Hedges and Choi for lottery tickets and then just let the kids play. If they get a ton for Keller i’m not going to be mad. I think theres a ton of regression possible/already occcuring and he realistically might be the #3/4 starter in that rotation in a couple years.

Skenes, Solomento, Priester, Jones, Contreras/Oviedo to some extent all can be the same or better. Let someone overpay for him and I won’t mind.

  3. So let’s say Hill gets traded. Who moves into his rotation spot?

Luis Ortiz has an 8.10 ERA over his last three starts for Indy. Cam Alldred (7.43 ERA), Andre Jackson (6.35 ERA) and Kyle Nicolas (8.64 ERA) are not much better over the same stretch. Contreras is still in Florida working things out.

Would they bring up Jared Jones? That seems like rushing him, no?

I mean, they’d have to go out and pick up a garbage starter.

    Just keep Rich Hill.

  4. I don’t know how you can possibly sell trying to win in 2024 if you trade Bednar or Keller – there’s just no realistic trade for either of them that makes the Pirates better in any kind of near future. And if you’re not trying to win in 2024, the rebuild has completely failed, you’ve wasted 5 years (again), and every single member of the organization should be fired.
