12. Cubs maybe? They made a few adds yesterday. Stroman’s hit a wall in July, and while Taillon’s been better lately, he’s still been pretty bad, so they could probably use a starter.

    Stroman’s probably hitting free agency this winter, so getting Verlander now gives them once less rotation spot to fill this winter. They could even flip Stroman now to get something in return (he’s not eligible for the qualifying offer).

13. If they trade Verlander, then they are punting next season. Rly hope they don’t unless it’s for a real top prospect. Even so, that makes me weary. Everyone keeps talking about Othani, but he said he wants to play for a contender. Contendets don’t trade their best pitcher with a year left on their deal.

20. With the market the way it is, I’m expecting a hefty return for Verlander. We literally got Acuña’s brother for a pitcher that almost offers negative value
