A note from Matt Barrows on Burford: He’s undefeated after two days of one-on-one pass-blocking drills. That’s saying something considering how many talented players the 49ers have at defensive tackle.

“He’s undefeated after two days of one-on-one pass-blocking drills. That’s saying something considering how many talented players the 49ers have at defensive tackle. Burford, who turned 23 last month, was the team’s youngest starter in 2022. He’s in line to be the youngest offensive starter this season and could have the overall title for the second straight year depending on where Drake Jackson, 22 and four months, winds up in the defensive line pecking order.”

  1. As the offensive line goes, so will Purdy. Foerster’s been a great offensive line coach so far. My worry is he starts sniffing white powder again, with all the success he’s had and – I’m sure – the money they paid him to stay with Kyle when Kyle’s entire offensive coaching staff a year ago was raided by the NFL bottom feeders.

  2. Don’t rule out Burford eventually succeeding Trent at LT. He played that spot in college, he has a good body for it
