  1. Lee is number 5 phillies prospect accord to mlb pipeline. 1 and 2 are untouchable so this would be solid for a 2 month rental

  2. Their 5th ranked prospect. Not too shabby, looks like he’s a great contact hitter.

  3. Was really hoping to get someone either MLB ready or right on the cusp. Looks like a High A guy.

  4. From MLB:

    Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 45 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

Signed in June 2021 out of Taiwan for $570,000 at age 18, Lee didn’t waste any time in making a strong first impression. His nine-game debut in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League that summer, in addition to his instructs play that fall, had the Phillies thinking they might have an even better player than they thought when they signed him. He did nothing to dampen that excitement during a first full season in which he reached High-A, with only a broken hand slowing him down at all.

The 5-foot-10 infielder has the chance to be a very good hitter, with a clean swing and an advanced approach at the plate. Lee is a baseball rat who loves to work on his hitting and makes a ton of contact, striking out in just over 19 percent of his 2022 plate appearances while walking 12.3 percent of the time. There’s power in that compact frame and he’s added 10 pounds of muscle to it, which should help him impact the ball even more moving forward.

Lee’s instincts serve him well on the basepaths and defensively. He knows how to steal a base and runs the bases aggressively. He’s played three infield positions thus far and the Phillies plan to continue to have him do so, but he’s probably best suited for second base, with the upside of a big league regular at that spot.

  5. For someone we signed on a 1 year prove it deal as a 2 month rental this would be a very nice return. Would be cool if we can get a lottery ticket prospect but even just 1 for 1 this is a good deal.

  6. Decent addition. Will probably be ranked around the 10th best prospect in our current system, pending any more additions. With a chance to move up as he matures.

Harris definitely believes in building young hitting depth which I appreciate and endorse. It’s unlikely all these young IFs will work out but at least 1 or 2 are bound to.

  7. Seems like a good return for a guy we signed to a one year deal to eat innings.

  8. Looks like it’s a straight up 1 for 1 trade.

Lee looks like a great addition though. Hopefully we can get something closer to the big leagues in return for ERod

  9. I don’t really know much about prospects outside of Detroit but from what other people are saying this seems like a decent return. Also I swear some of the people complaining about this return have unrealistic expectations for what you should get for a player like Lorenzen lol.

  10. This isn’t a bad return. Lorenzen is a mid-rotation SP on a 2-month rental. But I hate that we keep signing players to one-year “prove-it” deals with no upside for us beyond that year. Harris did a good job of signing a player who exceeded expectations, and now all we get is a prospect projected to hopefully be in MLB in 2025. Start throwing in some team options with buy-outs that don’t break the bank. Then we could either keep Lorenzen when we’ll be better in 2024 or get a much better return when he’s got another year of team control.
