> “The time was ticking on the clock in terms of getting a deal done,” Ng said. “We probably had a handful of deals that we thought were there or close to being there. But we really felt that we had to get one locked in. So at that point, we decided to go with Mr. Burger. Called Kenny Williams, got that one done in the books.”
The will probably elicit some overreactions, but since we don’t get a ton of information from the Sox themselves, it is interesting to note that Kim Ng called Kenny Williams, not Rick Hahn, to finalize the deal.
As the article notes, Ng was in the Sox organization at the same time as Williams, though not Hahn.
Interesting little peak for those who wonder what Kenny Williams is up to these days. Between this and the post-Kimbrel trade comments, I think it’s fair to say he still has a significant role in player decisions.
I mean that isn’t too surprising. For years people have been saying Hahn is just a puppet and Williams is still pulling the strings
Kept the wrong person, Jer
I know it’s easy to overthink this but there is a chance, and this may be hard to believe, Rick was on the phone with other teams about other deals.
I wish she was our GM instead

Too many cooks spoiling the broth.
This is painful.
