Intersting ranking of NFC teams from Eric Eager who puts the giants as “mid with hard schedule”

For some background he was formerly Head of Research, Development and Innovation at Pro Football Focus (PFF)\[big data analytics company\], and now is a VP of consumer strategy at SUMR sports which is a company that does contract work in Data Analytics for football.

What I found interesting is that he viewed the Giants as a below average team and projects them this year as not likely to be good but acknowledging they could be good. He cites the betting markets as well as Men being underdogs to the Vikings by more than home field advantage in the playoffs. and being slight underdogs on a neutral field.

I think they should have been in the “one will be good” category with MIN, CHI, GB. But I love being underdogs and proving everyone wrong! My prediction for year with an acknowledgment of fan optimism is

9W’s\[ 1vs DAL, AZ, 2 WSH, 1 LV, 1NE, 1GB, 1 NO, 1 LAR)

6L’s \[ 1 vs DAL, SF, BUF, Jets 2 PH\]

2 Unsure\[MIA SEA\]

If our offense can consistnley generate a couple explosive plays per game and if we tighten up against the run then I feel better about our chances. I think in most cases we have a coaching advantage as well as advantage in the run game.

What are y’alls thoughts??

  1. 17-0, Superbowl victory, they stop the week 12 game at halftime to induct Daniel Jones and Jalin Hyatt into the HOF.

  2. My version:

    Good: PHI, SF, DAL

Probably Good: SEA, DET, NYG, MIN

One will be Good: GB, WAS, NO

    Mid: CHI, ATL, CAR

    Party’s Over: TB, LA

And with the First Pick: ARI

Bears over Giants was easily their worst take. The Panthers with DJ Moore and CMC were worse than the current Giants. Somehow people think just DJ Moore will make the worst team in the league last year wild card contenders.

The top teams and bottom teams last year with no QB change largely stay the same. The Bears got a bump for addressing their biggest need but they won’t make a Jags level jump. The One will be Good camp is basically for teams with a new starting QB and solid rosters.

  3. We beat Dallas week 1 it’s off to the races, Daboll showed great adjustments last season and the team got better when it needed to.

  4. I like Eager a lot, but think the Giants belong in probably good. FWIW the market and numbers didn’t love us last year and I think that’s reasonable enough given the 1 score games and performance against good teams.

Our depth has significantly improved across the board though, it’s year 2 in the same system, and we have better offensive weapons. Your record prediction seems about right

  5. Eric Eager is a doofus. He actually looks at vegas odds as one of his datapoints.

We need a no-clown rule in this sub.
