My prediction on the roster for October

My prediction on the roster for October

  1. Some comments:

    1. Dubas indicated he will use waivers to make the team cap compliant (1 extra F + D)

    2. Guentzel is not LTIR eligible as he’s only expected to miss 5 games.

    3. Somehow getting rid of Carter (which probably isn’t going to happen) would open up another $3.1M which should allow the Pens to add a solid middle 6 FA target like P Suter or Tatar. But Dubas would need to work some magic to get rid of BJC

  2. I just don’t see the world where we aren’t starting Carter a 4LW. Hopefully we get Tatar

  3. They have a lot of breakout candidates and they are due for a breakout from somebody

  4. Oh FFS I really hope that Sully has learned his lesson and leaves Rakell with Crosby and Guentzel for most of the year.

They have such great chemistry. Idc if Sid prefers to play with Rust (if that is even true).

  5. I don’t see EK starting over Letang. This is Kris’s team not EK but other than that looks good. Slightly worried about bottom 6 but let’s see how it works out

  6. If Pittsburgh manage to get rid off Jeff Carter, who would you like to add to the roster?

  7. I don’t mean to be that guy, but if this is your October lineup Guentzel isn’t gonna be in it because he’s hurt. So yeah, move all the left wings up a spot and throw Carter back in there. Also I think it’ll probably be Pitlick instead of Johnsson.

  8. A MASSIVE improvement over this time last year. I could even see maybe a young guy make a push for a roster spot. Maybe Poulin or Big Z. Having Zohorna and DOC on the same line with a hard checking Center would be a hell of a 4th line.

Also, adding Tatar *would* be nice, like everyone else is saying.

  9. I really* want DOC/Eller/Acciari to be a thing, that’s a huge mean line with Acciari providing some sneaky scoring pop and they can play against anyone

Carter is actually a really good 4C option.

After he got demoted to 4th line post TDL, he jumped back up to a 55 xGF% and back up to a 1.62 5v5 p/60 (higher than Jake/Rust’s pathetic 1.47/1.25 respectively down the stretch mind you) + he was still playing the toughest minutes on the team, just a more appropriate workload with better linemates than Kap/McGinn.

  10. You’ll really need to have some guys step on the bottom 6 for this to work I think, even with karlsson. The plus side is there are lots of breakout candidates on this team. Really excited to watch these guys play in the fall, going to be a fun season
