  11. Watching an over the hill boxer is the saddest thing in sports. This last Wainwright season has been better only in the sense that he’s not doing physical damage to himself.

  12. I know most fans’ “reason to watch” is Waino’s 200 wins, but I still want to at least see smart decisions being made. Had we taken Waino out after the first (like the Royals took out their shaky starter) it’s likely we win this game. And I get it. What’s the point of a win at this stage of the season, etc etc. I just don’t see Waino’s 200 happening, and just because we aren’t playoff contenders, doesn’t mean I just want to lose to the Royals, or continue losing to teams, at the expense of the Waino pipedream. I know it’s a harsh thing to say but he really just doesn’t have it at this point. 

  14. In a normal season, fans would be going apeshit for how good Contreras has been lately. He has been incredible.

  16. Put Waino on the IL and let it go through the end of the season so he can go out with some sense of respect and dignity. This can’t be allowed to go on any longer. It’s bad baseball and it’s depressing to see a legend imploding like this.

    As for Pallante, I’d be fine if the team bus left without him. I wish I knew what dirt he had on Oli to keep getting playing time when it is clear he couldn’t pitch himself out of a tee ball game.

  17. That’s what, 14 starts? Cards are down like 11 games. I feel like the FO didn’t plan on winning at all this year and said fuckit from the start

  18. If you’re complaining about Waino, might as well pocket it. Homie is gonna pitch, unless hurt, because this season is a wash. A century defying wash and instead of stopping for future development, he and FO are content to let it ride. Stop showing up, stop giving a fuck. As sad as it might be to us fans, Waino is walking away $18 million dollars richer and it’s $18 million off our backs. As much as I love the guy, this is selfish bullshit.

  20. Every time he pitches we will lose. It’s bad for morale and not acceptable by mlb standard or cardinals standards to allow it to continue. I tip my cap to him. It’s been an absolute honor to watch him. But it’s like the line from moneyball “We’re all told at some point in time that we can no longer play the children’s game, we just don’t… don’t know when that’s gonna be. Some of us are told at eighteen, some of us are told at forty, but we’re all told.”

  21. I wonder what’s worse…Be told we have unused dry “gun Powder” or to be the Yankees with a vastly bloated payroll with fading stars and Aaron Judge….

  22. I feel terrible for Adam. I feel terrible for the fans. I feel terrible for the Cardinals players who step out onto the field and try to win night in and night out. I feel terrible for the young guys trying to earn their keep. Shame on you Mo, for allowing this whatever-of-a-season to perpetuate.
