  1. I’ve been reliably informed Trey can do no wrong and it’s society that failed him

  2. Wow this sub is even more toxic than twitter is rn…

Imagine if the guy went the zach Wilson route and never took responsibility for anything. He can truly do no right by you people

  3. He was holding onto the ball waaay too long. But…I wonder if WR wernt getting open

  4. He owned it, and no one on the field today could say anything different about themselves. Embarrassing performance, but Trey said the right thing, and that’s a good thing

  5. No one is ever going to doubt the quality of person and teammate he seems to be. But the whole “It’s on me, I gotta do better” thing is cool and endearing the first couple times. When you have to say that every time you play? Its a problem.

I had grand visions too after we drafted him. I was excited after his pre-season TD that led to the Trey Area call. I imagined what it would be like having our own Mahomes or Allen too. Its time to let that go now. What we see in games, in practice, in reports etc is the reality. Wishing and hoping that with a few more reps and in real games he will magically transform into something he is not is a Hollywood script. Its not reality.

  6. This kid barely has had real snaps under center and hasn’t got any game reps. He’s still raw and has to acclimate to game speed to where it finally slows down for him. I’ll save my criticism for when he finally puts together some games on his resume.

  7. It feels like he significantly struggled with getting off guys quick enough and then throwing the ball. It wasn’t even really the accuracy this time.

  8. Honestly I think practice squad would be best for him. If we can swallow the dead cap, then I think we should just cut our ties at this point and release him.

  9. Trey is at a point where he needs to show that he is even a backup capable qb because that’s what he is fighting for now. Perhaps he may still have a shot in the league but if it wasn’t evident already, I doubt its going to be with the Niners.

  10. His window of opportunity to develop was missed. His lack of game experience since high school shows glaringly. Sam came in and looked like an All-Pro QB compared to Lance. His best chance is to have one good preseason game to increase his trade value.

  11. it’s over folks. move on. enjoy the fact that we’re blessed enough to have a team that can overcome a blunder of this magnitude without missing a beat. that’s all that matters.

  12. This was the first time I really started to think he may be a good NFL QB. I think playing with 2nd/3rd stringers and Shanny not dialing up a gimmie deep shot really exposed his shortcomings.

He’s a great locker room teammate but its clear that the game is moving way too fast for him. None of the progress on the practice field is translating to actual games as he mostly looks the same from his rookie year.

I think unless he ends up being QB2, they need to start to seriously look to move him as he’s likely never going to be the QB they thought he would be.

  13. Nothing to really say but I hope he plays better in the next preseason game.

This isn’t no hindsight Monday morning quarterback talk, but I really wasn’t a fan of the move given all the circumstances. And I totally understood the rationale of wanting to move on from Jimmy, not just for performance reasons, but also for availability reasons.

But Trey played like one game in college in 2020 dude to all the Covid stuff. Outside of Jimmy having a 2004 Drew Brees like year after the Chargers drafted Phillip Rivers, you don’t trade up in the first place to make that move unless you have every intent of him playing his rookie year. Especially when you factor in the rust from minimal in game action in 2020.

He must’ve been looking like ass in practice and training camp regularly in 2021. Because if he so much as made things interesting in training camp in 2021. He should’ve started week 1 that year. I’m not even saying he needed to beat Jimmy outright. But simply show enough upside and potential to justify going with him week 1 and roll with Trey and the rookie mistakes which would’ve come with it. Which it feels like he didn’t do.

Nothing else to say but I hope he shows improvement in the next game. Seems like a likeable guy. I feel bad for the injury he got hit with last year. But this is ultimately a performance based league. He hasn’t done anything with the chances he’s had to make a compelling case for himself.

  14. Seems like not a single person is acknowledging the horrific job the Oline did of giving him any time at all to throw. He had about .3 seconds before multiple defenders were on him. Could he have let it rip a few times? Yeah, but there was nobody open or they were still short of the first down line if they got it. We all know Kyle doesn’t dial up any type of intricate offense int he preseason. Let’s just keep things in perspective here. Just a bit.

  15. He has neither the QB skills to make up for his sub par athleticism nor the athleticism to make up for his sub par QB skills.
