Gonsolin is catching a lot of heat, but most of the blame doesn’t lie with him. Maybe someone can help me understand the logic here…
Miller and Kershaw get pulled out of games that they’re dominating, with a little over 70 pitches thrown, and the reasoning given is, “We’re protecting them for the post season”. OK. Nonsensical coddling, in my view, but OK. But then, how do you justify leaving Gonsolin in when he was clearly struggling very early, to get humiliated? What was the point of leaving him in when it became 5-1, 7-1, and then sending him back out to give up another walk, hit and homer? Is that protecting him for the post season… by breaking his confidence into pieces? And then ultimately mailing it in the rest of the way? It’s not like they were riding an 11-game winning streak or anything, so I guess it makes sense to just Little League it the rest of the way and get ‘em tomorrow…
Gonsolin throwing potatoes for pitches. Disappointed end to a season high win streak, but also a fitting way to lose it. Considering that the pitching was the biggest factor in the winstreak.
Sad to see our streak is over but hey atleast our record improved alot because of it, but i do not trust gonsolin in october because of performances like this, hope buehler comes back in time
