[Deluchi] The #SFGiants have traded LHP Sean Newcomb to the A’s for Trenton Brooks. The move is clearly driven by a need for OF depth following recent promotions, but the 28yo was hitting .299/.405/.529 at Triple-A with nearly as many BB (57) as K (60).

2. Maybe a dumb question, but I thought the trade deadline was over? Can we still trade minor leaguers or what’s the deal?

7. Swap of players who were going to be minor league free agents at the end of the year anyway. Oakland gets a left-handed reliever with plenty of big league experience and two years of arb control left, and the Giants get an outfielder that has never been called up and fills a huge need for them.

   I wouldn’t be surprised if Brooks performs well enough for them to add him to the roster after the season is over to prevent him from reaching free agency.
