  2. great game, wish mets could have pulled it out. let’s not be too hard on alvarez, he’s had a bunch of clutch moments this season. he’ll be fine.

  3. Fuck the Braves. Unfortunately I’m doing nothing tomorrow night so I’ll see you all again

  4. At least it wasn’t as embarrassing as any of the losses from that last series against the Braves. Just normal sad

  5. I know this thread is going to be a bit negative since we lost, but hey look at our little rag-tag sell-off team hanging with the best team in baseball

  6. The Mets broke Alvarez.

Messing with his playing time and not giving him consistent DH opportunities.

Baty’s deep regression and Alvarez’s slumping is a bad look for the coaching.

I have no clue why Buck didn’t bunt with Alvarez there to get the runner on third with less than two outs.

Who knows, Locastro could force a balk with his speed.

After doing all the small things right yesterday, but not giving the struggling Alvarez a bunt sign or pinch hitting him for someone to bunt is not good team baseball.

  7. This is a three game series. Let’s shake this shit off and kick their asses tomorrow.

    YA GOTTA BELIEVE!

Someone find a way to get Tim McGraw to put out a rally song.

  8. Too many bad swings with guys in scoring position. Alvarez is also slumping hard.

Shame to waste that pitching, but our hitting’s been inconsistent all year just like the pitching.

  9. Wish we called in Marte and sent him from the D.R. to pinch run in that spot

  10. also Kolarek would be a pretty interesting lefty reliever prospect for the mets if he wasn’t already 34 lol

  11. Let’s remember Alvarez is only 21 – he won’t be 22 even until November. He is a young rookie still learning the ropes in the Big Leagues

  12. One major concern for this season is a small tidbit that Gary Cohen revealed during the broadcast when he said the Mets are “winding down” Alvarez which is the reason for his reduced playing time.

    That makes no sense.

If he isn’t catching, afford him the opportunity to continue his hitting development by slotting him as the full time DH.

How badly Baty has regressed and now Alvarez’s lack of ability to make contact with fastballs down the middle of the plate warrants scrutiny.

  13. So frustrating…. All the teams ahead of us are barely cracking .500 and yet we just can’t get out of our own way

  14. Good time to remind everyone just how difficult it is to catch at the major league level. Alvarez is still just 21 and catching more innings than he ever has in a single season in his career. He’s flashed the raw power and you have to take these rookie slumps with everything else

  15. I didn’t even fathom a double play being that catastrophic, I reassured myself that even worst case scenario (double play) will at least get the Mets a runner on 3rd

The baseball gods are just coming up with incredulous losses like they’re really up there coming up with the next funniest way to lose every week

  16. After years of running a phone caseless, I finally cracked a screen.

Someone at this sports bar just opened a door and it my arm smashing the phone out of my hand.

  17. Mets are surprised when their prospects aren’t developing properly when they aren’t getting consistent playing while JD Davis already revealed in his candid interview this season as a Giant that it was hard to perform consistently as a Met last season without knowing he’d be in the lineup from one day to the next.

Why are the Mets so reliant on platoons instead of committing to giving guys playing time.

They only commit to to guys if they perform right out of the gates, which Ortega and Stewart have done.

But if a guy doesn’t perform well or even if a young player does as Vientos did in his initial spell this season when he came through with a big home run and a clutch hit two games after, they still aren’t given consistent time.

Mets need management that will reaffirm to hitters that you will get a consistent opportunity for a certain period of time, instead of whatever they’re doing now.
