[BNS] Only Manoah didn’t immediately report to Buffalo, the way players typically do. Instead he’s staying in Toronto with the big-league team’s blessing while the Blue Jays play on the road in Cincinnati and Baltimore — a less conventional approach with next steps yet to be determined.

  1. >“We’re just trying to work through the right time to get him back rolling again,” Schneider said. “So nothing really to report.

    >Asked who was driving the decision to have Manoah remain in Toronto, Schneider said it was mutual.

    >“It’s kind of both of us working through it to figure out what’s just best for him to get back and be productive,” the manager said. “So yeah, a joint thing and just taking it day by day.”

    >While Schneider didn’t rule Manoah out as a possible sixth starter, it appears the situation is still developing.

    >“I’m not sure at this point, really,” Schneider said. “I think just looking at other options that we have — him being one of them, obviously — but I’m not sure at this point.

  2. definitely feels like his problem is mental and he’s working on his craft away from any form of spotlight

  3. Is he refusing to go down because of an ego? Even the last stint they brought him up too prematurely. This is all too fishy

  4. On the one hand, I respect the guy’s need for privacy if this is indeed something more psychological that they’re working through rather than mechanical.

But like, these cagey-ass responses the team has been giving is just leading to wild speculation that’s so much worse than if they just gave a direct, two-sentence-no-further-comment, clear answer about what the fucking plan is here.

This could absolutely be a nothing-burger but literally no one will believe that and will read all sorts of things between the lines of the vagueness they keep putting out.

  5. We have our core of starters back. Gausman, Bassit, Berrios, Ryu, Kikuchi. He would be a very good bullpen arm that can give you 2 innings high leverage middle relief.

  6. He has to report to Buffalo, what do u mean with the teams blessing? there’s zero proof of that
