  1. The notion that EK was the best defender last year becomes really painful to listen to. He was not even close to being the best defender – he was certainly the highest-scoring defender. No argue there.

He was a minus 26 at the end of the season – and did hang his goalies up to dry!

Just as well as pointing out that the Penguins' goalies have to be better – since when is the goalie position an insulated disconnected position in modern ice hockey – How come there are teams where any goalie looks bad as well as in other teams, goalies overachieve? Because the people in front of them have a system and pride! The Sharks had neither of that.

If you have a team like the Sharks who WANT to tank to increase their draft lottery chances, and then tell their very talented defender to turn the defense switch off, then there should be no surprise that defender gives up on any efforts within their own zone and merely focuses on scoring.

  2. From a Sens fan… I hated the fact that they got EK. Last year, the Pens missed the playoffs for the first time in 16 years! As long as Crosby is being Crosby, this team should make the playoffs next season. But ! They are one Crosby injury away to be in big trouble but that goes for many teams if they lose their best player. I like the move because you have to go for it as long as Crosby and Malkin are in.. Might as well push all your chips in the middle and hope to win cup #4 with 87. It's one spot less that will be available for my Senators to make the playoffs.
