Good. 670 the Score had some boomer takes about how PJ should remain the 2nd string QB and it actually pissed me off a bit. If there’s no competition and a dude can just come in and be awful and get outplayed by everyone and still keep his backup spot, then what are we even doing here?
May the best man win. Isn’t it what all Teams should vie for? Having your clear QB1 and a solid developmental prospect as your #2?
This is not just about how well Bagent has played — it is also about how shitty PJ has played.
If PJ even looked serviceable there would not be any discussion. Instead he has looked bad in practice and he has looked bad in games. Putting a dude higher on the depth chart than he should be possibly cost us a trip to the Super Bowl in 2011.
With the state of our OLine and Justin’s propensity to run, backup QB is extremely important imo
I’m sure Walker will play better given time. I’m equally sure Bagent is playing well right now and has the greater potential upside. Choice seems simple to me, given that we’re not really a playoff team this year and if we’re playing our backup we’re probably losing that game regardless of if it’s Walker or Bagent.
Gotta figure unless Walker balls out on Saturday, he’s out of the running. Bagent and Peterman have looked way better than him, even if it’s against the nobodies.
If anything the coaches did create it, because there is literally 0 competition between PJ and Bagel. Bagel is clearly the better quarterback.
Flus: It’s a good competition. Great competition. They’re competing. It’s good

I think they are trying to light a competitive fire under Walker (if he is QB2 Saturday).
I’d prefer if QB2 lit some fire under Justin’s ass. Why not? That’s the guy I’d want in that position.
Now I love JF1, but what if Bagent turned out to be our Brock Purdy. Just playing devils advocate
One thing is also clear, Bagent has looked WAAAAAAAAYYYY better then PJ so…yeah
This is definitely going to say alot about the coaching staff, Getsy coached Bagent in the senior bowl too, so guess we’ll see if this is all bs or if the Bears are actually serious about playing the best guys who actually show out no matter what the circumstances are. I’m leaning towards Bagent taking the #2.
