It’s because Ryu Hyun-jin was pitching! Korean networks broadcast MLB games featuring Korean players all the time. Lucky break to be able to catch the Guards like that while you’re here.
Hyun-Jin Ryu’s a hell of a drug.
Happened to me in Israel of all places back like 20 years ago tho. ESPN game.
Not directly related but this reminds me of how much I loved Shin-Soo Choo. He unfortunately was here when we sucked and he was our best player by a good margin. I’ve often wondered if we had him when we were good how popular we might be in Korea.
If you can, try to catch a game while in Korea. It is a wild experience
