That’s…definitely good to hear, at least for someone I considered a one-year rental. Unfortunately still hard to bring him back with Willy likely getting a raise, would definitely have to lose Domi or Klingberg.
would happily give this guy some term even if it means no domi and/or klingberg going forward. I’d just be worried about him coming hot out of the gates on matthews’ wing and pricing himself out.
Now that Matthews is locked up, I wonder how much that helps to know the future situation with salaries.
Good if he steps up I can see him getting that big $ extension instead of nylander. This team needs more healthy competition
Lots of folks saying they’d prefer to keep him over Domi, but honestly if I’m picking between the two: Domi has more games played in the NHL, had a better season last season, more points in the NHL, and is less injury prone. We’ll see how the season goes but just based on the big picture so far I’d prefer Domi. I think everyone will see too that Domi has some wheels which is something the leafs have been missing down the left wing these past years. Obviously it’d be nice to keep both long term though.

Klingbergs money will be going to all of Domi, Bertuzzi and matthews new contracts…
4m+ = 1.6 for matty, 1 for bertuzzi, 1 for domi.
Nylander is signed for 9m will get a 2m-ish raise, thats 800k into that from klingberg as well.
So we lose Klingberg and can retain all of these players, with raises.
I think thats probs the best route… I think thats kinda what the leafs are thinking too. Unless Klingberg pops off like crazy and the other do shit.
Just some thoughts of the top of my head, i have no clue.

It means nothing because that is all going on in your head. Bertuzzi is waiting for the bump in the salary cap.
They will sign him to a 5 year contract after this ywar
